For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
Welcome to our final piece in our Nativity Crochet-A-Long! In designing Baby Jesus I kept it simple but what a special piece He was to make! In Part 9 we are making Baby Jesus and the Manger to complete our set.
Just as the other pieces, the body and head are made as one. His size is similar to that of the donkey and slightly smaller than the majority in the set, 3.5 inches tall.
I want to thank you for all of the kind words and love you have shared in this CAL, it's been such a joy and blessing in designing and sharing these patterns with you!
If you're just joining in (or have missed some parts along the way) head over here for all the dates, details and materials for our Nativity CAL! Baby Jesus is Part 9 of 9 and completes our set. Each pattern will remain free here on the blog so you can access them at anytime!

Materials –
- Size 4 worsted weight yarn (I used WeCrochet Comfy Worsted in the colors White, Parchment, Thicket)
- 3.5 mm crochet hook
- 9mm safety eyes
- Black crochet/embroidery thread for eyelashes/eyebrows/nose
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle (bent tips work wonders for amigurumi)
- Stuffing
- Stitch markers
Weighted Base Materials –
Making a weighted base is optional but recommended to help your pieces stand alone. Please keep in mind they involve small pieces if you are intending your set to be handled by young ones.
- Poly-pellets (approx. ½ to 1 tbsp)
- 1 Knee-high stocking
NOTES -
- Slowly stuff as you go, you want it to be firm but not stretched. You will be working in the round; I like to use a stitch marker at the beginning of each round.
- The body and head will be made as one piece.
Weighted Base Tutorial –
1. To make a weighted base pour ½ tbsp inside of a knee-high stocking (you want just enough to fill the base of your piece).
2. Tie into a knot and cut off excess.
3. Place into the bottom of your Angel after round 14.
4. Continue to crochet and stuff per usual.
