Happy Tuesday friends! If you've been following along on Facebook or Instagram you may have noticed a new Tuesday Tip shared each week. This week I thought we would cover how to change colors in amigurumi.
Especially since we'll be changing colors quite often in our upcoming Zebra CAL (crochet-a-long).
Since amigurumi is worked in a continuous round it can leave a jagged line along the back where each color is changed. To avoid this you can use the Invisible Color Change method. In the picture above I have an example of a regular color change (the blue zebra) and one using the Invisible Color Change method (in pink).
Insert your hook into the last stitch, yarn over with your original color and pull through. You will have two loops on your hook.
Especially since we'll be changing colors quite often in our upcoming Zebra CAL (crochet-a-long).
The best part of this method is that it's simple and can be done quickly so you're right back to making your creation. If you are changing your colors quite often (like in these zebras) you can also carry your colors so that you don't have to tie off each time.

Drop your original color and pull up the new color you would like to change to, yarn over and pull through all loops on your hook.
When working your next stitch complete a slip stitch instead of single crochet, this will make for a smooth transition into your new color.
When you come back around in your next row be sure to still work into your slip stitch just as if it were a regular single crochet stitch.

That's it! You've now completed an invisible color change! If switching back and forth between two colors like we have above feel free to carry your yarn, this will save you from having to cut and tie off for every color change.
