July is here, and that means our 2nd annual Christmas in July event!

With help from an awesome testing team we have 4 new fun and free patterns to share with you this month. All of which are great for stuffing stockings, preparing for Fall/Winter craft fairs or getting a head start on your Christmas gift list!

We will be sharing one new pattern each Friday for the month of July! Feel free to PIN this post here as I'll hyperlink each pattern below for easy finding!

When brainstorming these patterns I had many requests for small and quick to make projects. I'm happy to share that the smallest of these patterns is 6 inches tall and the tallest only 8 inches!

Apart from being on the small side I have also kept the sewing at a minimal. Making each of these a great project if you're new to amigurumi or have been wanting to try it out!

You can also check out these tips here to walk you through amigurumi basics or head over here to get my favorite tips for stuffing your creations!

My absolute favorite part about these patterns is that I was able to use yarn I already had in my stash (trying to keep my new year's resolution to use it up). Each pattern only uses a small amount of yarn in each color!

The hardest part will be deciding if you'll make just one or all four! Below, you can find out all of the details for when each pattern will be posted and the materials needed for each project!

I'll include the link to each pattern as they're posted below. If you'd like to be notified by email feel free to sign up for our newsletter here!

You're also welcome to join the Grace and Yarn Crochet Group on Facebook to follow along, share your work and engage with others who love to crochet!

If you'd like to be prepared with what materials will be needed for each project I have them listed below. You will also want a pair of scissors, tapestry needle (bent tips work amazing for amigurumi!), stitch markers (a piece of scrap yarn does the trick), and stuffing.

Rosie the Reindeer will be the first pattern to appear in the series on Friday July 5th! She's a smaller version of Ray the Reindeer that was released in last year's series.

Materials you will need -

  • Size 4 worsted weight yarn (50g of light brown and small amount of white, dark brown and choice of color for cheeks and scarf)
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook (These are my all time favorite hooks to use!)
  • 5mm crochet hook (scarf)
  • 9mm safety eyes
  • Black crochet/embroidery thread for eyelashes (optional)

Penny the Penguin is also a smaller version from last year (you can find Penn the Penguin here). I had a lot of fun giving her more detailed features to remind me of a penguin! Her pattern will be on the blog Friday July 12th!

Materials you will need -

  • Size 4 worsted weight yarn (25g of light gray, 25g of dark gray; small amount of white, orange, and accent color for scarf and cheeks)
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • 5mm crochet hook (scarf)
  • 9mm safety eyes
  • Black crochet/embroidery thread for eyelashes (optional)

Sam the Snowman is the sweetest little guy! Of the four he is the only pattern I made in a boy version but any of these patterns can easily be modified as a boy or girl version. I started designing Sam last December and couldn't get the details figured out in time to share before Christmas.

I put him in 'time out' and pulled him back out at the end of May and his details seemed to flow right out. With a few froggings of his hat of course! His pattern will appear on the blog Friday July 19!

Materials you will need -

  • Size 4 worsted weight yarn (50g of white and small amount of dark gray, orange, and accent color for mittens and hat)
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • 9mm safety eyes
  • Black crochet/embroidery thread for smile

Anna the Angel is our last and fourth pattern in this years series. She works up quickly with a little pop of color in her gown. Skip the bun and she could easily be adapted to a boy version! Anna's pattern will be released Friday July 26!

Materials you will need -

  • Size 4 worsted weight yarn (50g of white, 25g of skin color; small amount of accent color for the dress and color of choice for hair)
  • 3.5mm crochet hook
  • 9mm safety eyes
  • Crochet/embroidery thread for eyelashes and smile

I'd love to know which pattern you plan to make, feel free to leave a comment below or join the conversation here in the group!

I'll see you back on Friday for the release of Rosie the Reindeer! Be sure to also check out the newest round of One More Row! We have a fun line-up of the top 5 patterns from last month plus some super cute patterns being shared for this next round!

    1. Hi Lorraine! My favorite yarn to use when making amigurumi is a worsted weight 4 yarn. I tend to gravitate the most towards Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn. I hope this helps and you enjoy the patterns! :)
