July is here, and that means our 3rd annual Christmas in July event! I'm super excited to be teaming up with the sweet Amanda with Loops and Love Crochet to bring you 4 new fun and free patterns. All of which are great for stuffing stockings, preparing for Fall/Winter craft fairs or getting a head start on your Christmas gift list!
When brainstorming these patterns we had many requests for small and quick to make projects. I'm happy to share that each project works up fast and range from 4-8 inches tall!
Apart from being on the small side each of these are a great project if you're new to amigurumi or have been wanting to try it out! We'll walk you through them with step by step photos and instructions.
I'll include the link to each pattern as they're posted below. If you'd like to be notified by email feel free to sign up for my newsletter here!
You're also welcome to join the Loops and Love and Grace and Yarn crochet groups on Facebook to follow along, share your work and engage with others who love to crochet!
If you'd like to be prepared with what materials will be needed for each project I have them listed below. You will also want a pair of scissors, tapestry needle (bent tips work amazing for amigurumi!), stitch markers (a piece of scrap yarn does the trick), and stuffing.
These Crochet Penguin Ornaments will be the first pattern to appear in the series on Tuesday July 7th! They were inspired by last years' Penny the Penguin pattern and use small bits of yarn to help go through those remnants we all have on hand. While I used the traditional black and white combo they would be super cute in an array of colors!
- Size 4 worsted weight yarn (small amounts of black, white, yellow and pink/blue for the cheeks/bows)
- 3.5 mm crochet hook
- 9mm safety eyes
- Black crochet/embroidery thread for eyelashes/eyebrows
This Mini Angel Amigurumi is a much smaller version of Amanda's Angelica the Angel Amigurumi crochet pattern released on her blog last year. This little angel is the perfect size for a holiday ornament, stocking stuffer, or gift for someone special. Using white and silver, she makes a beautiful angel, but if you change the colors or leave off the halo and/or wings, she also makes a really sweet mini fairy or princess! Plus, the pattern comes with two different hair options (a bob and a bun)!
- Size 4 worsted weight yarn (white for the dress, skin color or your choice, grey/silver for the belt, wings, and halo, plus a little bit of pink for the smile)
- 3.25 mm crochet hook
- 6mm safety eyes
- Black crochet/embroidery thread for eyelashes
Peter the Polar Bear is ready for Christmas with his striped sweater and red hat! His body and head are made in one piece for a quick make. He's perfect as a gift or to add to your decor this Winter. Mix up the colors for a fun black bear, brown bear, or panda!
Materials you'll need -
- Small amount of size 4 worsted weight yarn
- 50g of white for the body
- Grey for the nose piece
- Red for the hat
- A fuzzy white yarn for the hat/pom, pictured is Lion Brand Boucle
- Two accent colors for the sweater
- 3.5 mm crochet hook
- 9mm safety eyes
- Black crochet/embroidery thread for eyelashes/eyebrows/nose
These Mini Bears are all snuggled up in their own little stockings! They are only about 5 inches tall, making them the perfect size to work up quickly with only a little bit of yarn, plus they make great ornaments, stocking stuffers, and gifts. I know little ones will especially love holding the tiny bears and putting them in and out of the stockings!
- Size 4 worsted weight yarn (main bear color, accent color for nose/face, red, green, and white)
- 3.25 crochet hook
- 8mm safety eyes
- 11mm safety nose
- Black crochet/embroidery thread for eyelashes on the girl bear
